Your hosts

  • Sarah Bowlin

Sarah has a background working in tech as a user experience researcher. In 2019, she began a journey to bring her career closer to nature. She hosted her first retreat experiences in Big Bend National Park right before the COVID pandemic halted experiences like that with others for the next two years. In that time, she found and purchased La Loma with her husband, Brett. Since then, she’s been camping and exploring the land, designing the site plan for basecamp and dreaming big for all the special experiences people could have in the desert.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with two cats and two dogs, practicing meditation and yoga, and planning her next long backpacking trip.

  • Brett Bowlin

Brett is Sarah’s better half, a passionate home cook, YouTube scholar and handy home DIYer. There’s really not a whole lot that he won’t try just once. During the week, he’s a product manager for a major financial institution working on content management systems, but for the last several years he’s been spending time with Sarah building their entrepreneurial pursuits on the side. During the retreats, Brett is the resident chef, carefully crafting each retreat menu, and providing thoughtful service and delicious beverages and meals from the very moment guests arrive to the last breakfast before everyone heads home.

In his free time (which isn’t much these days!), he spends his time woodworking and learning to weld, oftentimes working on the next big piece of infrastructure to be built at La Loma. He’s a big music fan and enjoys the process of starting each day with a homemade latte.

  • Olivia Flores

Olivia had the pleasure of crossing paths with Sarah & Brett over their shared appreciation for the human condition. She has a background in tech working as a researcher of all things consumer mindset and motivations. In her spare time, she can often be found spending time with her husband and three rescue pups, volunteering with the local animal rescue, and fostering additional pups who would otherwise be at risk in shelters across Texas. She and her husband are currently scoping out their next exciting entrepreneurial adventure, bringing their passion for animal rescue into community spaces and beyond.

Olivia considers herself one of endless students in yoga and in life, hoping to share her love of this practice with others. Olivia has practiced yoga for 12 years, focusing in Bikram and Ashtanga styles. She started exploring yoga professionally in the fall of 2021, and she is excited to carry her practice to the desert this year.
